Valmet announces an investment of approximately R$ 40 million in the construction of a new unit in Sorocaba, São Paulo.
The complex will be dedicated to the Flow Control and Automation Solutions business areas and is being implemented on the same site where the company inaugurated the Roller Maintenance Service Center in 2023.
Completion is scheduled for the first half of 2026.
The project follows the build-to-suit (BTS) model. Construction began in the first quarter of 2025. The factory will have an annual capacity of over 12,000 valve sets and will maintain an inventory of more than 6,000 items, serving sectors such as pulp and paper, mining, refineries, and petrochemicals.
The investment includes the construction of the new production unit, the acquisition of new machinery, and improvements in energy efficiency, focusing on reducing emissions.
With this expansion, Valmet's production area in Sorocaba will increase from 4,500 m² to 8,800 m². With this investment and increased manufacturing capacity, a 6% growth in Flow Control business is estimated by 2027, driven by the development of strategic partnerships.
“Our new valve production unit in Sorocaba is a milestone for Valmet in Latin America. This investment allows us to offer cutting-edge flow control technology, supported by our global expertise and local support that understands the challenges faced by our customers,” emphasizes Fábio Maia, Vice President of Flow Control in Latin America.
For the Automation Solutions area, the progress is also significant. “The construction of the new unit in Sorocaba is a significant step towards strengthening Automation Solutions' delivery capacity. With world-class infrastructure, including manufacturing areas for DCS cabinets, testing environments, and a demonstration facility, we are creating perfect conditions for the work of our team and clients. This investment reflects our commitment to operational excellence and sustainable growth, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, value-added projects,” highlights the Director of Projects for South America, Sérgio Bandeira Junior.
"Our new factory will elevate our operations to a new level. With a larger and more modern operational area, we gain efficiency, reinforce safety, and strengthen our presence in the region, all in line with our commitments to quality and sustainability. Every detail has been thought out to ensure the well-being of employees and offer an even better experience to our customers, through lean processes, state-of-the-art equipment, and a structure prepared for the challenges of today and the future," explains João Amendola, manager of the Flow Control Supply Center and project manager for the new Sorocaba unit.
The facility will also include a final acceptance test (FAT) area for automation projects. Approximately 200 professionals are expected to work at the unit.
