Hungary's leading hygiene paper manufacturer, Vajda-Papír Ltd., is investing HUF 70.8 billion forints (EUR 182.6 million) into a comprehensive four-pillar expansion program at its Dunaföldvár tissue complex.
The implementation of the investments is supported by the Government of Hungary with HUF 24.9 billion forints (around €65 million), in non-refundable funding.
The initiative boosts capacity, enters new markets, enhances sustainability, and builds skills to drive exports and supply security.
The program allocates funds across targeted developments:
- 80 million capacity expansion: Construction of a new production hall at Dunaföldvár, equipped with two modern, energy-efficient roll-processing converting lines (one for toilet paper and hand towels, one for handkerchiefs). The investment will increase annual processing capacity from 140,000 tons to 170,000 tons. A fully automated high-bay warehouse with capacity for 44,000 pallets will also be built, with completion planned by the end of 2026.
- EUR 64.2 million hygiene wipes market entry: Investment to enter the disinfectant-impregnated hygiene wipes segment, a segment currently dominated by Far Eastern producers in Europe. this investment will expand Vajda-Papír’s portfolio beyond traditional tissue products.
- EUR 34.4 million solar power plant: Funds a renewable energy project to power the factory with greener, lower-cost production.
- EUR 4 million dedicated to employee training.
Building on strategic steps such as the planned acquisition of Sofidel Hungary’s household paper business (subject to regulatory approval), Vajda-Papír continues to strengthen its position as a key European hygiene paper producer amid growing demand for tissue, wipes, and sustainable manufacturing.
