Vajda-Papír Group is launching a three-year, 40 billion HUF strategic investment program focused on efficiency, sustainability, and capacity expansion. The project includes expanding and modernizing existing plants, increasing headcount, and entering new markets. This initiative marks the start of the company's most significant development cycle to date, designed to elevate competitiveness and ensure the security of supply for the Hungarian hygiene paper industry.
By the end of the third year, production capacity is expected to increase by approximately 40%, alongside improvements in sustainability and operational efficiency.
"These developments will further increase competitiveness in the long term, with modern, efficient technologies ensuring stable growth. This strengthens the company's domestic and international market positions, expands exports, and increases the number of employees," said Attila Vajda, founder and managing director of Vajda-Papír Group.
The managing director also noted the ongoing acquisition of Sofidel Hungary’s household paper business in Lábatlan. The financial closing of the transaction is expected in the second quarter of 2026, pending regulatory approvals.
Key details regarding the acquisition:
-
Workforce: The company plans to retain and rely on the knowledge of more than 170 employees in Lábatlan.
-
Growth: Further staff increases are planned to meet growing order volumes.
-
Benefits: Employees in Lábatlan will gain access to the standard Vajda-Papír benefit package, including cafeteria systems, training opportunities, product benefits, and welfare support.
-
Integration: The facility will play a vital role in serving both domestic and export markets.
The 40 billion HUF program is not just about volume; it focuses on:
-
Technological Modernization: Updating the group’s entire manufacturing fleet.
-
Energy Efficiency: Reducing the environmental footprint of production.
-
Market Security: Enhancing the security of the paper supply in Hungary and the broader region.
Vajda-Papír aims to significantly increase its revenue and EBITDA in the coming years while maintaining its reputation for high-quality Hungarian products.
Despite a stagnant domestic consumer market in 2025, Vajda-Papír Group saw a 10% increase in finished product sales compared to the previous year. This was driven by a significant rise in export volumes and double-digit growth in institutional sales.
