Kimberly-Clark is investing more than US$2.5 million in Argentina to modernize its manufacturing operations and upgrade the Huggies baby diaper portfolio sold in the local market.
The investment will support industrial infrastructure improvements and the introduction of new product technologies, with a focus on absorption, leakage protection, softness and skin care.
The announcement covers a comprehensive renewal of the Huggies diaper range, designed to address consumer expectations across different stages of a baby's development.
Upgraded Huggies portfolio
The renewal includes four product lines, with changes to materials, absorption technology and product design.
-
Huggies Natural Care: Incorporates three-dimensional absorption zones, edge protection and breathable materials designed to help keep babies' skin dry.
-
Huggies Natural Care Newborn: Features two absorption zones tailored to the needs of newborns.
-
Huggies Soft Comfort: Includes updates intended to improve softness and flexibility during everyday use.
-
Huggies Dermacare: Combines an ultra-thin design with breathable materials and a rear pocket designed to help prevent leakage. The line also incorporates vitamin E.
The updated portfolio is intended to address key performance attributes, including absorption, containment, softness and fit as babies move.
Consumer research informs product development
According to consumer research cited by Kimberly-Clark, 94% of surveyed parents considered preventing skin irritation an essential requirement when choosing diapers, while 93% identified comfort as a key purchasing factor. Hypoallergenic properties and soft materials were also among the attributes valued by respondents.
Carolina Tacco, Head of Marketing South Cone at Kimberly-Clark, said the investment reflects the company's focus on translating consumer needs into product development, particularly in relation to infant skin care. The portfolio relaunch is supported by the campaign “Cuidado experto de la piel de tu bebé” (“Expert care for your baby's skin”).
Manufacturing operations in Argentina
Kimberly-Clark has operated in Argentina since the early 1990s. In June 2025, the company announced plans to consolidate its domestic manufacturing at its San Luis plant, transferring production assets from Pilar and investing more than US$15 million in machinery and infrastructure over the following 36 months. The Pilar manufacturing plant ceased operations, while its distribution centre remained operational.
The San Luis facility manufactures baby and adult diapers and other personal-care products. The 2026 investment announcement builds on the company's ongoing efforts to update its Argentine manufacturing operations and its Huggies offering in the domestic baby-care market.
