Kemira has completed its acquisition of German coagulant producer SIDRA Wasserchemie following approval from the German Federal Cartel Office, strengthening the Finnish chemicals group’s Water Solutions business in Western and Central Europe.
The acquisition, initially announced in February, was valued at approximately €75 million.
SIDRA Wasserchemie operates two production facilities in Germany and supplies coagulants to municipal and industrial water-treatment customers in Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands. The company’s portfolio includes coagulants used in water and wastewater treatment.
SIDRA generated approximately €40 million in revenue and €12 million in EBITDA in 2025, compared with around €40 million in revenue and €10 million in EBITDA in 2024. Its approximately 60 employees have now joined Kemira following completion of the transaction.
For Kemira, the acquisition expands its presence in the coagulant business and adds production capacity and customer relationships in key European markets. The company said the transaction strengthens its Water Solutions business in Western and Central Europe.
The deal is part of Kemira’s broader strategy to increase its exposure to water-related solutions. The company has set a long-term ambition to double its water-related revenue, identifying water treatment as a key contributor to future growth.
Kemira reported €2.8 billion in revenue in 2025 and employed approximately 4,900 people at year-end.
