ANDRITZ has been selected to supply a new recovery boiler for Century Pulp and Paper’s mill in Lalkuan, Uttarakhand, India.
The new recovery boiler, scheduled for start-up in the first quarter of 2027, will replace an existing boiler and significantly increase the mill’s green energy production.
Designed to process black liquor from a diverse raw material mix of hardwood, bamboo, and bagasse, the 950 tds/d boiler will be supplied on an EPC basis. The scope of supply includes an electrostatic precipitator to ensure low particulate matter emissions at the stack.
“This investment marks a major step forward in our environmental performance,” said Ajay Gupta, CEO of Century Pulp and Paper. “The new recovery boiler will help secure a stable supply of green energy for years to come.”
Sridhar Gopalan, Managing Director & CEO of ANDRITZ Technologies India, added: “We’re honored by Century’s continued trust. Our advanced recovery boiler technology delivers proven benefits in safety, availability, and operational efficiency.”
This is the seventh new recovery boiler ANDRITZ will deliver in India, demonstrating its strong presence in the country’s pulp and paper sector.
Century Pulp and Paper is part of the Aditya Birla Group. Established in 1984, it is one of India’s largest manufacturers of paper, board, tissue, and pulp operating from a single location.
