New facility delivers on company's expansion strategy in the consumer goods market, reinforcing the presence of top brands such as Mimmo and Neve.
Suzano, the world’s largest pulp producer, has officially launched the operations of its new tissue paper mill in Aracruz. Following an investment of R$650 million, the new facility establishes Espírito Santo state as a strategic consumer goods hub for the company, adding a second mill in the state alongside its existing facility in Cachoeiro de Itapemirim, which opened in March 2021. The project also strengthens the proximity of Suzano's brands to consumers in the Southeast and Midwest regions of Brazil.
The Aracruz facility has an Advantage DCT 200 tissue machine supplied by Valmet, with an annual production capacity of 60,000 tonnes, and two Valmet converting lines which will enable the manufacture of 30,000 tonnes of toilet paper each year. The brands to be produced include Neve® Double-Ply and Triple-Ply, Mimmo®, and Max Pure®.
Integrating advanced technology developed by the Italian industrial systems supplier, Sorgato, the new mill will capture the dust generated during tissue production, reinforcing the company's commitment to sustainable and innovative practices in environmental management and contributing toward the goal of achieving zero waste in its operations. This technological solution is the first for the Suzano Group and significantly contributes to improving air quality in the manufacturing environment, promoting better health and well-being for its employees.
The mill’s strategic location will enable the supply of tissue jumbo rolls to the Cachoeiro de Itapemirim unit, which was previously serviced by Suzano’s Mucuri plant, reducing logistics costs, carbon emissions, and long-distance freight flows.

“The new unit in Aracruz is the company's seventh factory producing consumer goods, demonstrating Suzano’s focus on consistently investing in expanding its presence in the Brazilian market. We are monitoring the changes in the population's consumption habits, which presents new opportunities to deliver superior quality and efficiency to our customers," said Luis Bueno, executive vice president of Consumer Goods and Corporate Relations at Suzano.
The expansion strengthens the company's strategy of transforming pulp into solutions that directly reach consumers and adds value to their daily lives, increasing its installed tissue paper capacity to 340,000 tonnes per year.
The investment in the new Aracruz mill was made possible through the use of ICMS export credits held by Suzano, through a measure approved by the statement government of Espírito Santo.
The use of tax credits contributes to increasing the competitiveness of the region, ensuring the creation of jobs, income and opportunities for the people of Espírito Santo, while strengthening the local productive base and stimulating sustainable economic development.
The construction of the mill generated around 660 temporary jobs, and for ongoing operations, 214 direct and indirect hires were made.
With the start of operations at the new facility, the company completes an investment cycle of more than R$1.1 billion in Espírito Santo state, which included the replacement of the biomass boiler at the Aracruz industrial complex to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
"It is a new chapter in our history with Aracruz. For almost 50 years we have been producing pulp in the state and now we are expanding our operational capacity. The unit ensures high-quality production, strengthens logistics between our plants, and allows us to deliver our products faster and more consistently to our customers," says Claudinei Matos, director of Industrial Operations for Consumer Goods at Suzano.
