Suzano, the world's largest producer of pulp and a global leader in the manufacture of bioproducts developed from eucalyptus, celebrates, in April, 50 years of operation of its factory in Mogi das Cruzes (SP). The unit is currently the company's largest consumer goods operation in Brazil, with an installed capacity of approximately 130,000 tons per year, and occupies a strategic position in the company's portfolio, which includes products such as toilet paper, facial tissues, napkins, and paper towels.
Located in the Cocuera neighborhood, the factory plays a central role in the production of essential hygiene and daily use items for millions of Brazilians. The plant was acquired by Suzano in 2023, through the purchase of Kimberly-Clark's tissue business in Brazil.
Currently, the unit is responsible for manufacturing hygiene and household products for nationally recognized brands such as Neve, Mimmo, Max Pure, Grand Hotel, Scala, Kleenex*, Scott*, Scott Duramax*, and Suzano Professional.
“The trajectory of the Mogi das Cruzes unit represents much more than industrial growth. It symbolizes the capacity for innovation, technological evolution, and the generation of shared value that are part of Suzano's essence. Celebrating these 50 years is to recognize the legacy built by various professionals throughout these decades and to reaffirm our commitment to the sustainable development of the region, care for people, and the continuous pursuit of operational excellence,” says William Cruz, executive industrial manager of Suzano's Mogi das Cruzes unit.
Throughout its history, the factory has established itself as a benchmark in the national market, standing out for its innovation and the development of pioneering products. The unit was the first in Brazil to produce triple and quadruple-ply toilet paper, with the launch of Neve® Triple Ply in 2010 and Neve® Quadruple Ply in 2024 — both unprecedented milestones in the Brazilian sector. In 2025, the plant also launched Neve® Toque das Ondas, a product with a differentiated texture and exclusive technology.
The plant's strategic importance was recently reinforced with the implementation of the Operational Technology Center (CTO), responsible for monitoring, integrating, and analyzing, in real time, the operations of Suzano's seven consumer goods factories in Brazil. With this, the Mogi das Cruzes unit now concentrates operational and technological intelligence, strengthening its position as an innovation hub within the company.
Another highlight is the unit's environmental commitment. Between January 2025 and January 2026, 77% of the water used in the production process was reused, consolidating the factory as a benchmark in reducing consumption and in the responsible use of water resources.
The factory's history is also marked by the dedication of professionals who have grown alongside the unit over the decades. One example is Dejalmir Lopes, an employee with 39 years of service at the plant, who closely followed the structural and operational evolution of the factory. “It’s gratifying to look back and see how much this unit has evolved over the years. I experienced different phases of the factory, witnessed its expansion, shared knowledge with many colleagues, and grew with the company during several important moments in my life. Much of what I have achieved was possible thanks to the company. Being part of this history and contributing to the development of the unit for almost four decades is a source of great pride,” he says.
Beyond its industrial operations, Suzano maintains continuous investments in social initiatives in Alto Tietê, aligned with the Commitments to Renew Life — a set of long-term company goals connected to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Highlights in the region include support for APROJUR (Association of Rural Producers of Jundiapeba and Region), which directly benefits 99 rural producer families and strengthens local family farming, and the Social Incubator, an initiative focused on guiding and strengthening artisans and small entrepreneurs, promoting income generation and autonomy for 90 people and indirectly benefiting another 360.
