Sofidel Group has announced a new strategic investment to expand its production capacity in the United States, reinforcing its position as one of the leading players in the North American tissue market.
The Italian-based tissue paper manufacturer will install a Valmet Through-Air-Dried (TAD) paper machine with an annual production capacity of 75,000 metric tons, along with related converting lines designed for the manufacture of finished products. This major investment aims to strengthen Sofidel’s ability to supply high-quality tissue products to meet the growing demand across the region.
The start-up of the new TAD machine is scheduled for the second quarter of 2028. While the specific location has not yet been finalized, the company has confirmed that the new investment will be made within one of Sofidel’s existing U.S. facilities. Discussions with various public authorities are currently underway to determine the final site.
“With this new, significant investment, we are putting down even stronger roots in the United States, improving our ability to meet customer demand and further enhancing our capacity to supply first-quality products through TAD technology,” said Luigi Lazzareschi, CEO of Sofidel Group.
Headquartered in Lucca, Italy, Sofidel is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of paper for hygienic and household use, best known in Europe for its Regina brand.
In just over a decade, Sofidel has built a strong presence in the U.S. market, becoming the fourth-largest tissue producer in North America and a recognized leader in the private label sector. The Group now operates 14 production sites across 11 states—Idaho, Nevada, Arizona, Oklahoma, Minnesota, Illinois, Mississippi, Florida, Ohio, South Carolina, and North Carolina—and maintains a corporate office in Horsham, Pennsylvania.
