La Fabril has successfully commissioned a new baby diaper converting and packaging line at its production facility in Ecuador, strengthening its manufacturing capabilities and supporting the growth of its diaper brands across regional markets.
The turnkey installation includes an ANDRITZ converting line and fully integrated primary and secondary packaging systems delivered by Amotek, part of the Optima Packaging Group.
The installed system is based on robust converting technology specifically designed to meet LATAM product requirements. It provides an ideal trade off between production flexibility and high output capacity, enabling La Fabril to efficiently address current market demands while preparing for future growth.
The ANDRITZ converting line delivered to La Farbil is a high-capacity model, which integrates the latest hygiene converting technology and provides high versatility in product design. It enables the conversion of diapers with varying absorbency levels and core configurations, ranging from standard cores to high-SAP content cores, allowing La Fabril to address diverse market and consumer needs.
The line is capable of manufacturing the widest range of product sizes, from newborn to XXL, in multiple dimensions. It offers high flexibility with a special focus on optimizing size-change operations. In addition, advanced features for in-line material lamination and application further enhance production efficiency and final product quality.
As part of the turnkey installation, the converting line is fully integrated with Amotek’s end-of-line packaging systems, streamlining the process from conversion to bundled secondary packs ready for distribution.
The line is designed to receive diapers from the converting section at rates of up to 750 products per minute, before compressing, bagging them into premade bags and finally bundling for an optimzed transport .
On the bagging side, Amotek’s PB series for baby diapers can achieve outputs in the range of 50–110 bags per minute, with integrated systems linking the bagger to dedicated stackers to optimize counting and stacking performance.
The combined bagger–bundler configuration is expected to enhance packaging throughput and reduce manual handling.
A key success factor in this project was the excellent partnership between ANDRITZ, Amotek, and the La Fabril team. ANDRITZ not only delivered a comprehensive and fully integrated equipment package but also supported the customer with consultancy on product design, ensuring seamless alignment between production needs and final product performance. The line was installed, commissioned, and started up as a complete turn key delivery.
