Kemira, a global leader in sustainable chemical solutions for water-intensive industries, has completed the acquisition of REPUR S.r.l., an Italy-based provider of activated carbon reactivation services for municipal and industrial water treatment applications.
REPUR’s 2025 revenue was slightly over 5 million Euros and it employs 21 people. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.
The acquisition strengthens Kemira’s position in sustainable water treatment and supports the company’s strategy to expand in water treatment technologies while creating new growth opportunities in circularity-driven markets.
REPUR specializes in the reactivation of spent activated carbon, enabling customers to restore and reuse carbon used in water treatment processes instead of replacing it with virgin material.. Activated carbon is playing an increasingly important role in addressing water quality challenges – such as the removal of PFAS or ‘forever chemicals’, and REPUR’s expertise complements Kemira’s offering in this growing market.
“This acquisition is a strong example of executing our growth strategy,” said Tuija Pohjolainen-Hiltunen, EVP, Water Solutions. “Activated carbon plays an increasingly important role in removing contaminants from water, while the regeneration and reactivation of spent carbon supports circularity and resource efficiency.”
The acquired business will be integrated into Kemira’s Water Solutions business unit, and operations will continue from the current location in Italy.
